Christmas is upon us and most people are busy thinking of gift ideas for their loved ones, and that includes our companion animals too.
I came up with a list of items that you can gift to the dogs in your life, no matter what season you are in or what part of the planet you call home. We are here to enrich their lives with our love, proper care for them and commitment to their well being and happiness.
So how can we enrich their lives? I believe the minimum is to feed them nutritious food, to show them that they are safe, loved and protected, to be responsible guardians to them, and to walk them twice daily unless they are taken out for a really nice and long hike once a day.
Here is the list of gift items that can be very stimulating, engaging, and entertaining… In other words, these items can help us enrich our dog’s life.
Please note that all of the following items can be found at most major pet stores, and online.
• The Busy Buddy Twist’n Treat
• Nina Ottossons Puzzle Toys or similar puzzle toys that make the dog to think creatively to retrieve his food or treats.
• Most dogs love to chew on Benebone. It keeps them busy, entertained, and can be a wonderful toothbrush for dogs.
• Outward Hound Hide A Squirrel Puzzle Toy
• I think every dog should have at least a couple of Kongs. Stuff them with yummy treats and store them in the freezer. Pull one out when you need one.
• A session or a package of sessions with a professional positive reinforcement dog trainer. Well-behaved dogs are welcome to more places and you won’t have to leave them at home as often. They are also happier as they know what is expected of them, and what they can expect from you. No room will be left for anxiety and stress to ruin your relationship with your dog.
